A description of The Every Hour Counts Curriculum.

The Ever Hour Counts Mosque Curriculum has been designed in order to make full use of students’ time at the Madrassah.
11 – 16 year olds.
To have students understand the Qur’an and Hadith directly and thereby to protect them from misguidance and extremism.
Qur’an and its commentary (Tafsir) Hadith and its commentary (Hadith) Islamic beliefs Prophetic biography Arabic grammar (rules and principles) Arabic grammar – in practice Qur’anic recitation (tajwid) Human Rights British Citizenship Peace and moderation in Islam
Learning to read Qur’an, Tajweed and Memorization of Key Surahs The curriculum encourages 20 hours of Qur’an recitation with tajwid a year. There is no mention of memorizing surahs in this curriculum. Qur’anic Studies include understanding of Qur’an The Qur’anic Studies curriculum includes 20 hours of Quranic Commentary a year with allocated surahs and verses for each year group. In some instances, the curriculum allocates different surahs to boys and girls. For example, 16-year-old boys are allocated part of surah Ma’idah, whilst 16-year-old girls are allocated part of surah al-Nur based on the Hadith, “Teach your boys Surah al-Ma’idah and your girls Surah al-Nur.” Islamic Studies includes, fiqh, seerah, and Hadith Studies Islamic beliefs cover logical proofs for the existence of God, belief in prophethood and angels, belief in the books of God, Divine destiny, the signs of the Last Day, resurrection and the Day of Judgment, belief and unbelief, an introduction to some of the different sects and sufism. The Fiqh covers cleanliness, prayer, fasting, zakat, hajj and the proper comportment of visiting the two holy cities. The Seerah covers the world before Islam, the birth of the Prophet, life before prophethood, life in Makkah, life in Madinah, the major battles and the status of the Prophet. Hadith studies cover knowledge, companionship the importance of greeting with peace, starting from the right, food and drink, prohibition of cruelty, respecting parents, neighbours, truthfulness and sincerity, repentance, gratitude, the Qur’an, the mosque, the tradition of the Sunnah, and moderation and faith.
